Interviews

Interview I Edited

During this interview I started to get better using b-roll and also learned how to make the photos bigger if they don't take up the entire space. This shot of Carson was very well shot and the lighting was very good making it so it was not washed out.

Interview I Filmed

I liked interviews a lot more when I'm interviewing than being in front of the camera. The most difficult part of interviewing was having to think of the questions which made the second one easier as I had already done it once.

getting the lights and camera angle was easy this time as i had done it before.

Interview I Did

During these first interviews it was a lot more serious and we tried to cover a lot more of the basic things, where are you from, whats your name, what are your hobbies. This interview was meant to get the more basic details of the person while the second was meant to ask different questions you wouldn't see in the first interview.

Documentary Review

The FYRE Music Festival documentary

The FYRE Music Festival documentary made by Netflix called FYRE: The Party That Never Happened, was a very interesting documentary. This Documentary kept you interested by going from a crazy supermodel shoot, to sucking dick for water, to almost facing 20 years in prison. Billy McFarland, Entrapuer and Ja Rule, rapper  formed an app to schedule artist for private parties to be what they called “the uber of booking talent.” To advertise their company they came up with the idea to make a music festival in the Bahamas on a private island Norman’s Cay once owned by famous drug dealer Pablo Escobar. They produced this amazing ad with 10 of the top supermodels promoting an unbelievable experience to good to be true. This Influencer video was so good that they had sold out their 10,000 tickets on their first music festival. By then many of the team had known that this was not going to be what was expected and advised against pursuing before to late and was cut from the team. They were soon kicked off their island because they broke a previous agreement which led them to island hop until they reached Great Exuma.

People had questions about flights and living situations that they were promised with tickets but had them left answered by the FYRE team. This led to a lot of criticism from people and they went into investigation. Some people found that they were not getting what was promised but that went underlooked before the event. Days after ticket buyers were starting to arrive, and they soon saw what they were promised was not true. They were told who ever has a villa to grab a tent and it turned to a free for all. Guests made best for them but a third of the guest had arrived and all tents were full. The tweet that made everything made the disaster blow up was a picture of a messy cheese sandwich that they were served. One of my favorite quotes was from a Conan Late Night Show interview where he said he felt bad for the people who spent money to go to the event. His response was “If you have thousands of dollars to go on a trip to see blink 182, that's on you that’s Darwinism at its finest.”  This event really went south when people found out that Billy had lied to investors and had committed fraud. The FBI then joined the investigation had Billy was arrested facing 20 years in prison, but then eventually released on bail. This then screwed all the people that had worked for the event whether that be close friends, business partners, construction workers, or a small islands catering business. The films showed clips from the inside and clips from the actual shoot. All most all interviews were shot straight on or off set the slightest amount. This gave the documentary a very clean look. They obviously gave good thoughts on the background because it adds to it but doesn’t distract you in anyway. Overall this was a very well put together film, which keeps you interested at all times.

Second Round of Interviews

This interview I worked the camera and focused on getting the correct angle. I have been getting better at positioning the lights to make the subject look good. I gave the subject a place to look at throughout the interview to my left. I had to keep the camera in focus and make sure Devins skin did not look flushed.

Interview I Edited

During this round of interviews we tried to use the tascam for the first time. The tascam sound did not work correctly and the sound was not good enough but thank god we turned on the road mic or we would have had to reshoot all three interviews again. Editing keeps getting easier and the cuts throughout the interviews became smoother and easier to make.

As we do more and more interviews it becomes easier to know when to pause and how long to-pause for between questions. You begin to know not to move very much between questions so editing looks better. We talked about different questions than earlier interviews so we were able to get more information.

Third Interviews

Interview I Edited

Editing interviews is now feeling like a normal thing. Finding b-roll with the resources I have is getting easier and creating a good interview is getting easier. The shots are getting better and the placement of the lighting is getting better.

My Interview

I was not always the biggest fan of  being in front of the camera, but as we did more interviews I got more comfortable answering questions, and being a good interviewee. Its nice when you are being interviewed and the interviewer asking interesting questions. The first few interviews I did were all filled with boring questions but they have begun to get more interesting.

No third interview just me and Ben.
